Starting the year off right…. In January, Lazzaro Designs was the recipient of a 2024 Gold CVA Award for The Brooklyn Heart Center patient education brochure Maryellen designed in 2023.
The CVA Awards are the nation’s premiere competition recognizing design excellence in cardiac and vascular service lines. We are pleased to say that our 2024 award joins many more Maryellen has won over the years.
Even in a global pandemic life – and marketing – goes on for this Brooklyn-based community hospital. Its department and employee newsletters went entirely digital (of course, a nice cost savings benefit and no need to hand distribute!). Our community newsletter, Keeping Brooklyn Healthy continues to be traditionally printed. In this issue: two pages were devoted to the latest everything devoted to COVID-19 sprinkled with photos of employees getting vaccinated; the hospital’s telemedicine program; surgical milestones; new partnerships, to name a few. However, for me, when I think of this issue what comes most to mind is the stunning cover photo that beautifully captures the overarching message of the road back…I found it on www.unsplash.com (a site that offers FREE images!! :))
Here’s a recent issue of Keeping Brooklyn Healthy, The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s community newsletter. It was an ideal time to tweak the look so it coincided with the newsletter’s expansion to eight pages and the decision to produce it quarterly vs. biannually. In this issue, articles included an update on the construction of TBHC’s physician pavilion, how TBHC provides excellent GI, obstetric and pediatric care, a photo essay highlighting the many community events TBHC has recently hosted, and much more.

Here’s another example of one of many cost-efficient pamphlets Lazzaro Designs has produced for The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Like other pamphlets it was also prepared in multiple languages to reflect their multicultural audience.
As for the cover design, a grid organized various religious symbols in a classic yet contemporary way reinforcing the branding approach Maryellen has taken with all collateral she produces for the hospital.
