New Project: Q&A Series Update

We are pleased to announce that Lazzaro Designs will be updating a Q&A series for The Silvercrest Center. We created the original family of 12 pamphlets with essential information on relevant topics for patients, families and staff alike, such as on infection control, compliance, pressure ulcers, and pain management. For a remarkable nine years, the Q&As served their purpose; now the organization is seeking to update their content. A brand-new pamphlet on discharge planning will also be created. As for the design, the timelessness of the formatting will remain unchanged.

Testimonials: Straight from the Source

“Having a graphic designer that was extremely detailed oriented and with a high level of creativity that provided high caliber work for Brookdale was imperative and Maryellen surpassed all those qualifications. It was always a pleasure working with her and the reassurance that all our work would be delivered in a timely manner was a huge plus. Maryellen coordinated all the printing and shipping of her material and it was a known fact, that no matter how small or large the project was, Maryellen would deliver the best.”

Tried & True: The Trifold Series

The good, old trifold. These pamphlets slip as comfortably into an acrylic brochure holder as it does into a business-size envelope or a handbag. There are many reasons to return to this perennial favorite beyond easy distribution; trifolds are budget-conscious choices that impart information in an easy-to-read manner.

One of our favorite solutions for complex programs that target several different audiences is to create a trifold series. The Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, for instance, offered different sets of services to three distinct audiences: musicians and performing artists, adults with COPD and heart disease, and kids and teens with asthma. A single capabilities brochure would be expensive and not appeal to two-thirds of the audience at any given time. A single trifold would not be big enough to cover all its programs. Instead, we produced three stunning trifolds, one for each patient group, distinct, but clearly of the same family.

One Program, Two Audiences

Maryellen Lazzaro designed this campaign for the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at what was then Beth Israel Medical Center (now Mount Sinai Beth Israel). Dubbed Pulmonary News, a snail-mailed postcard provided clinical and research updates from the department to referring physicians throughout the medical center. These postcards were written expressly for busy doctors, providing them with short, but sophisticated summaries of interesting news, as well as convenient ways for them to contact the department and refer their appropriate patients.

Services of special interest to patients were marketed through pamphlets that introduced the procedures and educated the patients as to how they worked, using consumer-friendly language and design elements. These patient pieces were displayed in the referring physicians’ waiting rooms.

Through this ongoing, two-part campaign, one program kept both physicians and patients appropriately apprised of the excellent pulmonary care available within the healthcare system.
