Infographic Looks Back on Accomplishments

Lazzaro Designs created this infographic for Healthcare Leaders of New York, which was included in its first 2015 e-newsletter (which we also write, design and project manage), as well as on its website and in other social media. The infographic dramatically tallies the professional organization’s end-of-year accomplishments and statistics. Infographics continue to be a contemporary, on-point way to summarize and present data and information. They are notable for how well they translate both in print and on line.

A Thoughtful Strategy

Connecticut Choice Realty came to Flodin/Lazzaro seeking a way to increase its presence on social media. We advised them to think outside the box and consider an infographic, a contemporary tool to interact with audiences on line.

Lazzaro Designs created the infographic shown here, which features a striking avatar of the agency’s owner, playing up on the client’s unique and memorable name. This character will reoccur in future marketing vehicles.  The infographic also presents a helpful timeline for prospective sellers to ready their home for market. Flodin/Lazzaro further guided Connecticut Choice in posting the infographic on various sites, along with providing introductory copy to those posts.

The visual was deliberately designed in a modular format so that it was easy to reconfigure onto a printed postcard that was snail-mailed to key catchment areas. The infographic with all its fresh elements sets the company apart from its competitors in a memorable and valuable way.

The Power of Infographics

Infographics present complex information and raise awareness about specific messages quickly and clearly using brief copy and arresting, but simple visuals. They can be used to illuminate, for instance, the impact of donor dollars, or a program’s influence on a community, or quality assessment results, or simply illustrate a medical procedure in an engaging way as this recent Flodin/Lazzaro infographic did when it marketed a minimally-invasive surgical procedure for those suffering with persistent GERD.

Infographics are often used on websites or in social media efforts, such as Pinterest or Facebook, but we have also used them effectively on posters, handouts, and in other traditional print materials.

Are You Marketing Your Patient Portal?

The 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act authorized the federal government to spend billions of dollars to incentivize the widespread adoption of the electronic health record (EHR). Funds are available to healthcare providers who meet certain “Meaningful Use” objectives.

“Meaningful Use” is a list of specific objectives that have been rolled out over the years that allow a provider to prove that they are using the EHR to improve quality, safety and efficiency, and reduce health disparities; to engage patients and family; and to improve care coordination, and population and public health. Without going into more detail than space allows here, it is fair to say that healthcare providers are increasingly finding that many of these objectives are nearly impossible to achieve without a patient portal.

A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient 24-hour access to personal health information (for instance, recent doctor visits, allergies, immunizations, lab results), sometimes along with other access (such as the ability to email providers, request prescription refills or schedule appointments, or fill out forms ahead of visits). With patient portal implementation, a healthcare organization or practice can enhance patient-provider communication, empower patients, support care between visits and improve outcomes.

But a patient portal is only as good as the number of patients who sign up for it and use it (and Meaningful Use criteria looks at the enrollment percentages). We are now helping clients market their patient portals in carefully considered ways by highlighting the benefits to patients through promotional materials, posters, direct mail campaigns, infographics and stories in newsletters (the latter two, shown here), among other marketing efforts.
